Our Story

How it all started...

In January of 2020, a group of about 15 people gathered at the Shiplap Coffee Shop in Yelm to talk about planting a church for people who weren't interested in church. Little did we know, God was going to radically reshape those plans as a global pandemic hit just a few weeks after that first vision meeting.

What turned out to be a difficult season for many churches across the country was the very thing God would use to launch His new church in Yelm. Within the first year, God had brought nearly 80 people to The Outpost and over half of them were previously not interested in church (a trend that continues to this day)!

Where we are now...

In the fall of 2024, we had outgrown our downtown building and had to move. Currently, we are meeting at the Yelm High School performing arts center on Sunday mornings. This move has given us the space to continue to reach our community.

Over the past five years of ministry, we have baptized dozens of people and seen hundreds of families come through The Outpost. With a large military population, we are always welcoming  new families into our community.

Where we are headed...

We are adjusting to ministry in our new facility and looking for more and better ways to bring the good news of Jesus into our community. God is continuing to grow and bless our little church plant as we see more and more people come to know Him through our community.

Will you come be a part of what God is doing in and through The Outpost Church in Yelm?

Be a part of our story...
