January 28th - February 2rd
The Way to Stay Free
Watch the Youtube video of this week's lesson.
This weeks big truth is:
God gives us his good rules so we can live free lives that reflect him.
God gives us his good rules so we can live free lives that reflect him.
This weeks memory verse is:
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt....You shall have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:2-3)
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt....You shall have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:2-3)
Here are a few questions for your family to discuss this week based on the teaching your kids received in class on Sunday. Space these questions out throughout the week and find natural times to bring them up. Use these questions to spark conversation over dinner or on a car ride.
Question One: What did the people hear and see when God came down the mountain? How did the people respond? The lesson talked about how the people and the mountains trembled before him. Use your imagination. What do you think that looked like?
Question Two: Why do you think the people of Israel loved God?
Question Three: Why do you love God?
Question Four: How many Ten Commandments can you name? Spend some time as a family talking over what each of those mean in your daily lives and in your family.
Question Five: Can any of us keep all of the commandments perfectly? Why should we go to God for help? How do you think God feels when we come to him for help?
