Family Discipleship July Week 3

July 21st - July 27th

The Lord Is My Shepherd

Watch the Youtube video of this week's lesson.
This weeks big truth is:
God, as our shepherd, leads, feeds, protects, and forgives us.
This weeks memory verse is:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
 (Psalm 23:1)

Here are a few questions for your family to discuss this week based on the teaching your kids received in class on Sunday. Space these questions out throughout the week and find natural times to bring them up. Use these questions to spark conversation over dinner or on a car ride.

Question One: What's another word for psalm? Who would sing the Psalms? Why would they sing them?

Question Two: How many songs are in the book of Psalms? What are some of the feelings they express? Who are the Psalms often about?

Question Three: What does a shepherd do? What are some of the beautiful pictures in Psalm 23? Psalm 23 begins, "The Lord is my shepherd." What does that mean God does for us?

Question Four: Who came after David and said, "I am the good shepherd. . . (who) lays his life down for the sheep?

Question Five: Who are the sheep that he lays his life down for? What animal was sacrificed at Passover? Who is the perfect Passover lamb that is sacrificed for our sins?
