Family Discipleship January Week 2
January 12th - 18th
The Scary Boat Ride
Watch the Youtube video of this week's lesson.
This weeks big truth is:
Jesus is so strong that those who trust him never have to be afraid.
Jesus is so strong that those who trust him never have to be afraid.
This weeks memory verse is:
They were filled with great fear and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea over him?"
(Mark 4:41)

Here are a few questions for your family to discuss this week based on the teaching your kids received in class on Sunday. Space these questions out throughout the week and find natural times to bring them up. Use these questions to spark conversation over dinner or on a car ride.
Question One: Have you ever been in a really bad storm? Talk about that experience and what kinds of things you felt during that time.
Question Two: Why do you think the disciples were so afraid on the boat? Was Jesus afraid? What would have happened if the disciples would have told the winds and waves to be still? What does that tell us about Jesus?
Question Three: What did Jesus say to the disciples after he calmed the storm? Why did he say they had no faith? What would it have looked like if they did have faith?
Question Four: When we have scary things happen to us, like the storm, what should we remember?
Question Five: What would have happened to the disciples if Jesus hadn't still the storm? What would happen if Jesus hadn't died on the cross for us? What does it mean for us that he died for us?
