Family Discipleship December Week 3

December 15th - 21st

Follow the Leader

Watch the Youtube video of this week's lesson.
This weeks big truth is:
Jesus picked twelve ordinary men to do extraordinary things.
This weeks memory verse is:
If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
 (Mark 8:34)

Here are a few questions for your family to discuss this week based on the teaching your kids received in class on Sunday. Space these questions out throughout the week and find natural times to bring them up. Use these questions to spark conversation over dinner or on a car ride.

Question One: What did Jesus tell Matthew, James and John to do when he met them? What do you call people who follow Jesus? Who can become a disciple?

Question Two: How many men did Jesus call to be his first disciples? Can you remember all their names?

Question Three: How many tribes did Israel have? What was Jesus trying to show by choosing twelve to be his disciples?

Question Four: What was another name for the twelve disciples? What does apostle mean? What did Jesus give the twelve apostles the power to do as he sent them out?

Question Five: Where were God's people from in the Old Testament? What's different about God's people in the New Testament?
